Slim book (under 300 pages) and easy read. The author wrote in detail about PICC lines and the basics of giving medications (including putting on gloves, opening packages, etc.) which seemed to me to be "filler" because there wasn't much to actually write about. As I read the book, I thought this might be more interesting to someone in the medical field or interested in the medical field rather than a "lay" person. The author has some writing talent--readers get a sense of the personalities of the patients and staff. As I neared the end, I wondered if the author would provide updates on the patients we met during her shift (she does).

I am a nurse. This is a relatively decent description of what it is like to work as a registered nurse in the hospital. This would be a good read for anyone thinking of going into the fielf of nursing.
