I enjoyed the history in this book, especially in the chapter that was set in the town where I live. However, I feel like I missed something along the way. I never did understand what the "shining" girls were and why they needed to be killed. I felt like there were a lot of loose ends left dangling when I finished. This could have been a really great book, but I just didn't feel like it lived up to the hype.
This book was more gritty and gruesome than I expected. It is riveting and it is well written, but there were some things I felt that could have been left out that did not add to the story. It is written from different points of view (mostly the surviving victim and the serial killer)and different places in time between 1929 and 1993. There were a few loose ends that weren't quite explained in my opinion. Still, overall, it wraps up well enough and it is definitely a page turner.
I liked it. Not a big fan of the way it jumped around in time. I also believe that the author could have left out some situations /scenes and went deeper with some of the relationships between characters. It was hard to keep up at first before realizing how the story is being told. It is a page turner. I just could not stop reading. I would recommend it.
This book is so disturbing! In a good way, though. It's tense and trippy. Really well written!
