I couldn't get into it, but it was very well received in its day. Maybe I should rent the movie instead.

Enlightening. Characters come to life on the page and the reader feels as though she knows them intimately. While it focuses on antisemitism and prejudice, there are so many other elements of human nature that exemplifies human foibles and egocentrism. The characters lived in 1932, but could be believable today. One of the best books I ever read.
