Very good books with twists and turns. Better to read in order because the personal lives of the characters is followed through the series.

Jance's Joanna Brady mysteries series is a real set of page turners. Jance makes this tough-as-nails-yet-great-single-mom very real and believable. Plot twists and intertwines are amazing!

An early Joanna Brady mystery. I thought it was terrific; read it straight through. New job, recently widowed, young daughter to raise - Joanna thinks her life is challenging and tough. But it gets even tougher when she is tasked with finding a serial killer who may have her or her daughter marked as his next target. Quite a good read!

Love the series... good mystery.
As usual J.A. Jance write an intriguing story that keeps you interested. This one is set in the Phoenix area rather than in the Bisbee local.
Strong Joanna Brady novel set shortly after her husband's murder. Possibly second or third in the series.
I love the Sheriff Brady series...You should start with the first one so you can see how Joanna becomes the Sheriff in town....Great characters and fun mysteries...
Excellent book with a great ending.
Joanna's policeman husband was killed in the Arizona desert. She brings the killers to justice and wins the job of Cochise County sheriff.

The third in the Joanna Brady series, this book focuses on how Joanna trains to be an actual law enforcement office in Peoria (a suburb of Phoenix), and learns a shocking family secret. She also meets someone who may become a new regular in the series. Along the way she investigates crime and solves a murder or two. I'm not going to say any more lest I spoil it for newbies. This book and "Desert Heat" are my favorites in the series of 13 (so far). And I have visited Arizona several times, driving hours to be in Cochise County on 3 occasions just from reading about the places in JA Jance's books. I was not disappointed. Bisbee is beautiful; if you are ever in Tucson, spend a day in Bisbee and Tombstone.
A great read.
One of the early Joanna Brady novels - Joanna's character is still being formed in this novel by JA Jance. Joanna is taking over her deceased husband's job as county sheriff but knows little about law enforcement.
Good Joanna Brady mystery.
If you haven't met Joanna Brady yet,now is the time. By the author of the J.P. Beaumont mysteries. Widowed by an assassian's bullet to her policeman husband, she brings the killers to justice and wins herself a job as sheriff of Cochise County,Arizona. One of the most interesting characters of crime fiction, she is tough as nails but very inexperienced in law enforcement. She is also very much a woman and mother.

Love this series.
Very good book. Another one about Joanna Brady that keeps you turning pages.
A friend has been reading Jance's Joanna Brady series and loaned me this copy. That rotter, now I have to get the rest of the books!
Nice blend of suspense, Southwest description, interesting characters--overall a good mystery.
From back cover: An assassin's bullet shattered Joanna Brady's world, leaving her policeman husband to die in the Arizona desert. But the young widow fought back the only way she knew how: by bringing the killers to justice...and winning herself a job as Cochise County Sheriff. Still mourning her loss, Joanna Brady needs to be strong and supportive for her nine-year-old daughter, Jenny. She also has responsibilities to the people who elected her Sheriff. Joanna has the head and instinct for her new job, but not the experience -- which is what brings her to Phoenix for a pre-Thanksgiving crash course in police training...and into the mystery of an imprisoned husband her gut tells her did not murder his estranged wife. Suddenly Sheriff Brady has a lot more to worry about than classes and the visiting family pre-holiday chaos. For her impromptu investigation is drawing a serial killer too close for comfort -- and closer, worse still, to Joanna's little girl.

The first in the "Joanna Brady" series. A very good read!
Sheriff Joanna Brady, has various dealing with solving crimes and murders in Cochise County, AZ.
Solid second entry in the series, decent pacing, good dialogue, good sense of place. This series is definitely one that mixes family life with the mystery aspect, which is something I tend to like in these series. I believe I see a relationship forming for Joanna, and her mother's surprise guest was certainly interesting. The mystery had a couple twists I enjoyed as well.

The first of the "Joanna Brady" series.
This book has been well read! Is still in great condition, just a little warping since I've had it in storage for quite some time.
