This is my first Banville novel that I have picked up, and it was very difficult to get through. The author's style was different than I am used to. The plot although interesting was below average. It skipped around too much, and I really don't think the main problems were addressed. They were danced around by the characters before and after they were aware of certain events. I'm disappointed this book is on the 1001 books to read before you die list.
