"Don't start a story with This is SO funny. Be like saying My dick's huge before you screw. Even if you're right you sound like an asshole."

This is one of the funniest, if not the funniest, book I have ever read. What keeps it from being mean spirited is that author realizes that he is lucky to have a father that loves him, although not in a warm and fuzzy self-esteem boosting way. In turn, he has a lot of respect for his father. You can open this book to about any page and find something that will make you laugh. I would give it 6 stars if I could.

This book was funnier compared to the t.v. show as they could say and do more compared to what was on t.v. (no bleeping in this book!). I loved it and the way the writer kept things short and to the punch line. There was no long overdrawn stories that made you want to go to bed. It was a laugh out loud fest the whole way through. You won't be disappointed.

Justin Halpern on twitter is hilarious and this book is just the same. I thought the book was sooooo funny! It is a quick, fantastic read. I would love to meet Justin's dad - but I'd be a little bit scared, too! I hope his dad keeps on spitting out these side-splitting one-liners because I'd love to read a second book!

I tried to read this to my husband but was laughing so hard I didn't get past one sentence! For anyone who appreciates the "grumpy old man" type, I can't recommend this enough! I want to meet the senior Mr. Halpern, I think he should go on tour. I would camp out overnight for the best seats!

I don't know why it took me so long to pick this up. I finally did and I laughed so hard I had to leave the room because people couldn't hear the TV!

The words of wisdom that Dr. Halpern often gave his children were funny and yes, they actually had lessons to be learned in them. Maybe it's not how you would talk to your kids or your parents talked to you, but some of us are very open and very vocal and just lay things out the way they are. That is all I saw Dr. Halpern doing, being brutally honest but always with love and support.

I enjoyed reading about the father/son moments that the author shared. Maybe he didn't have a Ozzie Nelson dad but he has a dad that loves him and that came across very strongly for me. Family means everything to Dr. Halpern and he tried to, not protect his kids but let them see life with their eyes open, that life is not always peaches and cream.

I am not easily offended. Swear words do not bother me and I come from a family that could be just a little "off" so nothing in this book made me wince. That being said, IF you offend easily or don't like swear words or have a certain opinion about parenting, this book may not be for you. Even so, I always say try it before you form an opinion, you just may be surprised.

LOL funny! Although Dad is crass and outrageous, the anecdotes in this book show that deep down inside he is a big softie.

Funny but not quite as funny as I expected it to be. Some of the quotes were hysterical, but many weren't nearly as humorous as I thought they'd be. Overall I enjoyed the book & am intrigued enough to read more books by this author, but I wouldn't consider this one of my favorites of all-time.

Hysterical - I was cracking up every other page. The father's candor is refreshing in today's politically correct world.

the summary is spot on. bits of "wisdom" lovingly passed down from father to son...foul mouthed, tell it like it is flipping funny stuff. a very quick read (and a great laugh.)

This book was hysterical! Just when you think your parents drive you nuts you read this book and realize just how easy you have it compared to Justin! A light and enjoyable read for any and everyone.

this book was very funny. After reading it myself (and parts of it to my son), I gave it to my boyfriend. He and his dad and son will get a kick out of it, too. What a life the author had with his dad -- funny, intense, no BS.

It was not the worst book that I've read recently but not very good either. Some of the antidotes were amusing but overall thet were pretty boring. I had a hard time staying awake to finish this book.
