Mary Rodgers, daughter of composer Richard Rodgers, wrote dozens of children's songs and books, as well as songs for Broadway, most notably, Once Upon a Mattress. Her most famous, and lucrative, book was Freaky Friday. Well-written, with help from co-author Mr. Green, the footnotes include fact checks, additional info regarding people mentioned in the narrative, and in many cases, are a hoot! Reading this book feels like you are sitting at Mary's kitchen table listening to her responses to an interviewer.
