Overall, not a bad job for such a little book.

One thing did bother me. All of the models kept the same expression, no matter what they were signing.

In ASL the same two sign phrase "YOU WALK" can be a statement, a command, or a question - depending on the inflection given it by the signer's facial expression. Look in the mirror and say it each way. Your natural facial expressions will change too.

The book shows it as a question "Can you walk?" but the face shows that it is a statement. Try saying those same 3 words without a change in your vocal inflection...

Simple. Easy.

My 8 year old is learning sign language independently. He has really enjoyed this entire series and says it is easy to learn signs.

I will echo other concerns I have read. The book doesn't emphasize mouthing the words while you sign or showing emotion. I have had to step in help him understand this, but he questions my correctness since the book doesn't mention it, nor do the pictures show emotion.

All together a B Average.
