What a wonderful story by one of my favorite authors. I highly recommend it.

It is Christmas Eve in New York City when Brian, a determined seven year old, follows the thief who took his mother's wallet, hoping to retrieve the St. Christopher's medal that he believes will save his father, who has leukemia, just as it saved his grandfather in World War II. However, the child is kidnapped by a vicious escaped convict who needs a hostage. The central characters come to life rapidly as the fast-moving story quickly builds suspense. Teens will appreciate the realistic, paradoxical description of the relationship between Brian and his older brother: caring, concerned, and name-calling at the same time. Although readers know that the ending will be a happy one, they won't expect the coincidences and the touching holiday details.?

This was the first MHC book I ever read...THANKS MOM! I was hooked after page one!
easy read, great Christmas story
When her husband was diagnosed with leukemia, Catherine Dornan and their two young sons accompanied him to New York, during the Christmas season, for a life-saving operation. Hoping to divert the boys from worry about their father, and to temper herown near despair, on Christmas Eve Catherine takes the boys to see Rockefeller Center's famous Christmas tree. When they stop to listen to a street musician, Brian, the younger boy, sees a woman take his mother's wallet, which holds a precious memento his grandmother has just given them, a St. Christopher medal that saved her husband's life in World War II, and which she and Brian believe will save his father's life now. Unable to get his mother's attention, Brian impulsively follows the woman who has taken the wallet into the city's subways, therby beginning a journey that will threaten his life and change that of his mother and of the theif, as well. Written with warmth, yet set against a background of menacing and thrilling suspense, Silent Night is about courage in the face of adversity, and faith renewed and faith rewarded.
This hardcover book has only 154 pages, but its a fairly good story..

This is a quick read. Very good story.
Catherine Dornan is in Manhattan with her two sons because her husband, Tom, an Omaha pediatrician, is hospitalized there for leukemia and has just had his spleen removed. When a troubled stranger, Cally Hunter, makes off with Catherine's wallet, seven-year-old Brian Dornan doggedly pursues her because the wallet contains a St. Christopher medal that saved the life of his grandfather in WWII, by deflecting a bullet. Brian believes that the medal will save his dad's life, too, as his grandmother has predicted, and he is determined to get it back. Enter Jimmy Siddons, Cally's brother, a cop killer escaped from Riker's Island prison, who abducts Brian, holding him hostage at gunpoint as he heads for Canada in a stolen car.

-I read this the morning after Christmas. It was an enjoyable quick read. I am usually not a fan of Mary Higgens Clark but this one kept my attention. It's the story of a family who is in NY for Christmas. The father has leukemia and is having an operation to remove his spleen. The mother and two boys, Brian and Michael, are spending some time looking at the Christmas decorations in the city. Taking a break from the tention, they are watching a fiddler play Christmas carols. When the younger boy, Brian sees a young girl pick up his mom's wallet that has fallen out of her purse, he follows the girl because the wallet contains a special metal he wants to give to his father for Christmas. He doesn't realize he is beginning a dangerous journey that will eventually take him hundreds of miles away from safety with an escaped convict. If you are looking for a quick, suspensful, heartwarming story, this is a good one to try!

This is a wonderful book for the Holiday Season! It is a fairly small book with only 154 pages but super reading.
Another great book about holidays, and religion. I was very surprised as to how well this was written.
this is another great christmas mystery by one of my favorite autors.
This book was a page turner. It was fast paced and action packed. There is a diversity of characters which is nice. I like that the story is told in different points of view. This is a quick read that is pretty good.
I've never read a book by Mary Higgins Clark before, so I decided to try this one since it had a Christmas theme and I wanted a holiday book. It was a fast and easy read and although it was based at Christmas time, the actual storyline didn't have much to do with Christmas itself. Overall though, it was a decent read, it kept me interested and I liked the somewhat predictable ending.

Short, easy to read, feel good Christmas novelette
I love all of Mary Higgins Clark books. The holiday theme made it particularly different from some of her other novels.
It wasn't even Christmas when I read this one & I really enjoyed it. Mary Higgind Clark is always good.
Like most of her books couldn't put it down until I found out what happened.

I have not read this book yet----it is a duplicate in my ever growing collection---but Mary Higgins Clark is always a good read!!!
Easy Read. Brain mom thought see place her wallet in her purse. Brain saw a Lady (Cally) pick it up. He followed her to her apt. Cally brother Jimmy a cop killer broke out of prison and showed up to his sister Cally apt. He needed money to run. Brain really want to st Christopher medal to help his dad to heal. Jimmy kidnapped Brain. The searched begin. Jimmy went back to prison and Brain safely return home.
