2nd book with Rick Beanblossom as the main character. It's difficult to put this book down, and any interruption is very annoying! Beanblossom in the middle of a replay of the Lindbergh kidnapping, with the baby being his own son this time around. Lots of interweaving of past and present. Thayer is a great storyteller. Lots of highly interesting characters don't clutter the story, but enrich it immensely. I recommend this book to readers who like mysteries with substance.

"The author uses his mastery of historical detail to build his own spellbinding version of the original kidnapping. He also blances the icy clarity of his investigative thinking with the welcome warmth of his characterizations. And in the end, he leaves us with the chillng thought that the snow might never melt on some buried secrets." from New York Times book Review

As the height of a savage Minnesota blizzard, beanblossom's son is stolen from his nursery--a terrifying re-creation of the Lindbergh crime. To get his son back, Beanblossom must bury his pain and rely on his reporter's instincts to follow the kidnapper's footsteps from the present to the past through...SLIENT SNOW

I thought this story was a terrifying re-creation of the Lindbergh crime in 1932 and strange that the copycat crime was reinacted on the anniversary of the 1932 Lindbergh kidnapping. Great historical details of the orignal crime. Through the story you didn't know who was doing the actual crime until the end. And the ending kept you guessing still. A fasinating story!

I'd forgotten I'd read this one a while back when I ordered it. But I was glad that I had done so. Interesting premises in the book. I recommend it.

A story similar to the Lindbergh kidnapping... One of those books that's hard to put down.
