Dante Declaire is in dun territory, and headed to France before the magistrates can toss him in jail. Before he can reach the boat, he intercepts a rioter on Duclaire lands, and fires on the intruder. Unfortunately, the intruder is a woman running from her evil step-father, who's trying to declare her mad and put her away. Dante stays to help Fleur Monley and is ultimately thrown in debtor's prison. It is then Fleur's turn to rescue Dante. The book was a little drawn out in places, but mostly enjoyable.
