Lyra Prescott is a documentary film student, who when stopping at a yard sale where the angry wife of a very rich man is giving everything away for free, picks up something she's not even aware she has. And someone else needs it and will stop at nothing to obtain it.

When Sidney Buchanan, her best friend and roommate gets hurt during a break-in, Sidney gets her FBI brother, Alec, to help out by sending agents to guard the two women while the police investigate.

Lyra and FBI Agent Sam Kincaid (descendent of the Kincaids from "The Bride"), are immediately attracted, but both believe there's no possible future for them and try to deny their feelings.

With a number of attempts on her life, the culprit and reason behind it isn't as obvious as it seems. We also follow the humorous antics of an inept hitman.

This book had the feel of the same old thing as this author has used the same formula for all of her books in this series. The main characters are so gorgeous that many other characters are attracted to them, and at least one of the characters is always sure that a relationship wouldn't be possible. On the plus side, we also get to see thoughts and actions through the eyes of the bad guy as well as the main characters.

The humor is good and the antics of Lyra's parents is interesting. It would be difficult not to like her grandmother Gigi. One of the things I've come to enjoy about this series is the number of ancestry tie-ins to her earlier historical books, now from at least 3 prior series/settings. The book is definitely a good read, but I hope the author will consider altering the formula in her next release.

Film Student Lyra Prescott is close to finishing her classes. She just needs to submit a short documentary for her degree. Her subject is a once beautiful city park that is now an illegal dumping ground for garbage. Lyra sets up a hidden camera to capture people illegally dumping at the site. That's when things start getting weird. There is a series of incidents that threaten Lyra's life. Lyra's roommate contacts her brother who sends an FBI Agent to protect Lyra. Agent Sam Kincaid is just here as a favor for a friend. He knows someone wants Lyra dead, but not why. Sam and Lyra must stay one step ahead of a killer.

This is the eighth book in Julie Garwood's Buchanan-Renard series. I liked the characters, especially Lyra and Sam. I found the inept hitman to be humorous. Lyra's parents were unbelievable and should have had more page time. I figure out early in the story the identity of the person who wanted Lyra dead.

Unfortunately, the plots for these books have become cookie-cutter. I feel like I'm reading the same story over and over. Individually the books are fine; but as a series, I'm finding them repetitive. My rating: 3.5 Stars.

The relationship between FBI agent Sam Kincaid and film student Lyra Prescott was a fun romantic read, but I found the chapters written from the point of view of a bumbling hit man kind of irritating. There are two separate plot issues that have put Lyra in danger, and I'd rather have heard more about the characters we know from her other books and less about the "bad guys."

I loved this book. It is a continuation of the FBI series, so you get a quick visit with past favorites. The story kept me guessing and I really enjoyed the exploits of Milo.

Another great romantic storyline from Julie Garwood, with a Scottish Kincaid~! I thought it was cute but still enjoy her historical novels more.

Great book, if you like Julie Garwood this one will not disapoint. It is a continuation of the Buchanan family. Sidney, the younger sister and her roon mate, Lyra Prescott are in trouble, Alec sends Sam Kincaid a fellow FBI agent to the rescue and sparks fly.

It was a good book, but I was slightly disappointed. It felt like it was missing something.
