I think in the future I'm just going to wait for the paperback. I used to LOVE this series. It was always well written, hysterically funny and sexy to boot. This series has fallen short with novels 14 & 15 and 16 is just as flat as the other two. The jokes are old, there's still not enough Ranger or Morelli and much as I love Lula she's become tedious. It almost feels like someone else wrote the book of Evanovich has to really work to put out the Plum novels each year. What a let down. Like I said, next year I'll save my money and wait till it becomes available on PBS.

I love the Stephanie Plum series, and I really enjoyed this book as well. There were laugh out loud moments, and Stephanie seems to be standing at a crossroads...I'm interested to find out what she'll do next.

The books of this series are still readable, but there is simply no "edge" to the stories. I have decided not t read any more of the Plum series as there comes a time in any series where they have gone on too long and you want to know what happens to the characters. I guess, just not fresh anymore!

You don't have to read the other 15 to appreciate this book, since the characters never change or learn from their past mistakes. However, it wouldn't hurt to read/review "Lord of the Rings" before reading this.

Another "hot" Stephanie Plum story, but no cars blown up in this one! Steff's relationship with Morelli is "off" again, but Ranger is right there ready to step in. Vincent is in "hot" water and gets snatched giving the girls a hard decision--rescue Vince or look for new jobs? Connie is more prominent in this story than in many of the previous ones, but Steff's family doesn't enter in as much as usual.
This was a great beach read!

I loved the whole Stephanie Plum series. It's a fun read with all kinds of twists and action. My husband is not big into reading. Would rather watch T.V. He started reading these books and I could hear him in the Frontroom laughing. He has read all of them also. I hope she writes a seventeen.

Being a Stephanie Plum fan, of course I had to go to the library and reserve this book as soon as I found out #16 was coming out. When the book came in (to the library) they called me and I went and picked it up. Couldn't wait to read it. Well, I rushed for nothing! This book is not the usual Stephanie Plum novel - I found myself reading it because I had the book, not because I was liking the story. Same old, same old, not with a new flair; filled with slow, boring dialogue; even the margins on the pages are about an inch on each side, to make for more pages. I wonder how many more Stephanie books Evanovich will be able to write before fans say 'enough already!'?? Have Stephanie retire and her & Joe tie the knot; we need something new and something more and it isn't in this book!

Vinnie owes his bookie bigtime money and gets kidnapped. Stephanie is off again with Joe and possibly on with Ranger. Connie gets to make stink bombs and shoot a bad guy. Lula eats her way through the book. Grandma breaks her foot. Throw in Mooner with some hobbits, an alligator named Mr Jingles, crazy FTAs and scenes in the funereal home. What more could you ask for? 4 stars.

Degenerate Vinnie of Vincent Plum Bail Bonds is being held for ransom and Stephanie Plum, along with Lula and Connie, ban together to raise money to pay off Vinnie's bad debts with a very bad mobster. With the debt increasing quickly to over a million dollars (interest, you know!), they decide to find and rescue Vinnie in only the ingenious, yet hysterical way these three women can. In the traditional Janet Evanovich style, the antics of these women are very funny and yet heartwarming to see what they'll go through for their no-good boss. With a big dash of Ranger and a little bit of Morelli thrown in the mixture to add some zest, a big bowl of messy soup is made. Grandma Mazer and Mooner make appearances, as well as Rex, the hamster. Another good book by Evanovich, but I'm starting to feel some frustration with Stephanie not being able to make up her mind between Ranger and Morelli. Come on, fans of this series WANT Stephanie to jump Ranger's bones! The ending events are somewhat surprising in this book; however, as it leaves the reader wondering what will become of Vinnie, Connie, Lula, and Stephanie. A fun, lighthearted, vacation read.

Interesting that several reviewers found this disappointing, I haven't read any since her Vegas one, I think you have to put her aside for a while. Evanovich definitely doesn't break out of any mold here, the characters haven't changed much, and you usually know what everyone is going to say or do next. These books are like cotton candy, you eat it too often and you'll get sick of them. But they are fun to read every now and then.

Stephanie Plum is back for another fun filled adventure. She, Lula, and Connie must figure out how to get Vinnie back from a bookie he is deep in debt with. He has gambled with his money and the bail bond business' money.

The tension created between Ranger, Stephanie, and Morelli creates an interested back and forth of emotions for Stephanie.

She also has inheireted a "lucky bottle" from Uncle Pip and will have to discover for herself if the bottle is really does bring luck.

A short read perfect for an afternoon escape.

Much like the previous books in this series, Sizzling Sixteen was light, fun reading. Lots of humor, a couple of good plot twists and the on-going question of Joe vs. Ranger. The next book will need more in-depth personal content but this one was still a good read.

I love this series, and this book seemed to highlight all the things I love about it. Although I also am frustrated at how things don't change in the central love triangle.

But Stephanie will always get into trouble and humor will follow her at every corner; and I will always want to read along.

Janet Evanovich does a great job with her Stephanie Plum character and the ensemble of co stars in the Stephanie Plum series and Sizzling Sixteen is no exception. As usual you are rooting for Stephanie to get her man, which ever one she chooses - sexy, strong cop Morelli or sexy, mysterious and dangerous Ranger. As usual her partner in bounty hunting Lula keeps you in stitches with her on again off again mystery diets and take not "stuff" attitude. Finally we get a bit more time with office assistant Connie, who's family is Mob, and learn that she fits right in with everyone else. They all come together to rescue and save Stephanie's cousin Vinnie from his own stupidity, when he is kidnapped due to overdue funds to his bookie amounting to over one million dollars. As usual the bounty hunting and side personalities are entertaining. If you like strong women in a sexy and funny back drop, you will truly enjoy, this and the rest of the Stephanie Plum Novels.

Stephanie's boss, Vinnie, has been kidnapped by local mobsters who are looking to collect on his massive gambling debts. It's up to Stephanie, Lula and Connie to come up with the money or Vinnie's days are numbered.

This is the 16th book in the Stephanie Plum series and there was nothing new in it. You had the same characters, the same tired jokes, the same Stephanie not being able to decide between hot cop Joe Morelli or hot security expert Ranger. There was definitely no "sizzle" in Sizzling Sixteen. My rating: 2.5 Stars.

Once again, fans of Stephanie Plum are treated to another wacky adventure with Stephanie and her posse. This time, Stephanie, Lula and Connie are faced with the possibility of losing the bail bonds office when Vinnie is kidnapped by local mobsters looking to collect on a massive gambling debt.

As the deadline to deliver the money approaches, more secrets about Vinnie and his shady dealings are brought to light when its revealed that Vinnie has embezzled money from the company that funds the bonds. If Vinnie doesnt come home, nobody can write the bonds that nobody can fail to appear on and that would mean the end of Stephanies illustrious career as Trentons most wacky bounty hunter.

Along the way, Stephanie receives help from Mooner and his Hobbits, Morelli and of course, Ranger and his unlimited supply of replacement vehicles.

Along the way, Stephanie continues to struggle with her feelings towards Ranger and her on-again off-again relationship with Morelli. Unfortunately, didnt get to see a lot of Grandma Mazur this go around so am hoping the next book will bring more of Grandmas wacky behavior and commentary. Connie was a surprise in this book with a more active role and her hidden talents of making stink bombs was very entertaining.

All in all, this was an excellent installment of adventure, excitement, wacky hilarity and some intense sexual tension (thank you, Ranger!) starring my favorite bounty hunter and her entourage.

I really wanted to enjoy this book. It should have been a short story. Yes, there were some funny moments and cameo appearances by favorite characters. But the main characters are stuck in a time warp. They don't grow, learn from their mistakes or establish relationships. Totally forgettable.
SuzanneB avatar reviewed Sizzling Sixteen (Stephanie Plum, Bk 16) on
Better than last year's book 15, this installment brings back the outlandish silliness of Stephanie's adventurous capers but still lacks some needed character development. By book 16 there should be more depth to our goofy protagonist than Evanovich allows -- it sometimes seems like I am reading the same book over and over. Nevertheless, it is still quite enjoyable reading, with several laugh-out-loud moments.

It was just as good as all the others in the series. I wish they'd make them into a movie or at least a tv show cause these characters are crazy funny. My only issue is it seemed kind of rushed at the end of the story, but maybe it's because I hated to see the end.

How I've missed the crazy antics of Stephanie, Lula, and Grandma. Those three (mostly Lulu and Grandma) leave me in stitches every time they grace the pages. This was another fun addition to this series, even if it wasn't the best one. Lots of laughs from beginning to end.

We actually get to see a bit more of Connie and Vinnie in this book. Connie normally only gets short cameos in the bail bonds office, but she goes out with Steph and Lula to help rescue Vinnie, and she was a fun addition to the team! Mooner and a bunch of hobbits get to join in on this one and had me cracking up as well.

There was the typical love triangle with Steph, Morelli and Ranger. Once again it's left open with both men hanging in the wind. While I sometimes think I want her to just pick one already, I realize that if the sexual tension was out of either side I would miss the other guy way too much!!!

Overall, this was a fun addition and I sure hope the bail bond agency gets to open back up! What good is the Stephenie Plum series without her chasing down bad guys and getting hers (and Rangers) vehicles blown to smithereens and smashed like pancakes?!?!

It felt like reading the second draft of the novel: A formulaic structure, some added detail, but not finished. Not laugh out loud funny. Not sexy. I really enjoyed the first 8 or so books. This one is more flat than sizzle. ... but it is a fast read!

Sadly, this was the last Stephanie Plum novel I will ever attempt to read. I started it in January of 2011 and I can't remember ever getting through a book so slowly because it bored me so much and with only a little over twenty pages left, I'm not even going to finish it because I don't care what happens anymore. All these books are now are more of the same and there are better series out there with better female role-models. I don't know how the character's lived this long as she's clearly TSTL.

Typical Stephanie Plumb.. i guess after 16 you know what you are going to get, and this delivers, a lot of Lula in this one, not enough Morelli or Ranger.. just okay. I guess I am feeling that the format is getting a little old. but it is a fast fun read, a few days of fun with my old Jersey friends!

First Line: My Uncle Pip died and left me his lucky bottle.

In this sixteenth chapter of inept bounty hunter Stephanie Plum's life, her low-life relative and boss, Vinnie, has run up a huge gambling debt. He's being held for ransom, and it has Stephanie, Lula and office manager, Connie, racing to find him so the business-- and their jobs-- will be safe.

I recently read and reviewed the fifteenth book in this series, and I stated that I'd finally hit the wall. I'd already received this one from another Paperback Swap member, so I read Sizzling Sixteen fast to get it back in the system and on its way to someone else.

I have only one word for this book: T-I-R-E-D. All the plot elements and character quirks have been recycled so many times that I don't think I even cracked a smile the entire time I was reading. I wasn't the only one feeling tired; the book-- if a book can have feelings-- felt tired, too. This crew needs to be put to bed.

I don't know how many more books will be in this series, but I won't be reading them. If the movie that's being talked about is actually filmed, I'll see it as a matter of curiosity, but no more books for me.

If you have yet to read any of the Stephanie Plum mysteries, by all means read the first seven. You'll be in for a treat. Past book seven, and you're on your own.

Trenton, New Jersey, bounty hunter Stephanie Plum has inherited a lucky bottle from her Uncle Pip. Problem is, Uncle Pip didn't specify if the bottle brought good luck or bad luck. . . . -- BAD LUCK: Vinnie, of Vincent Plum Bail Bonds, has run up a gambling debt of $786,000 with mobster Bobby Sunflower and is being held until the cash can be produced. Nobody else will pay to get Vinnie back, leaving it up to Stephanie, office manager Connie, and file clerk Lula to raise the money if they want to save their jobs.

GOOD LUCK: Being in the business of tracking down people, Stephanie, Lula, and Connie have an advantage in finding Vinnie. If they can rescue him, it will buy them some time to raise the cash.

BAD LUCK: Finding a safe place to hide Vinnie turns out to be harder than raising $786,000. Vinnie's messing up Mooner's vibe, running up pay-per-view porn charges in Ranger's apartment, and making Stephanie question genetics.

GOOD LUCK: Between a bonds office yard sale that has the entire Burg turning out, Mooner's Hobbit-Con charity event, and Uncle Pip's lucky bottle, they just might raise enough money to save the business, and Vinnie, from ruin.

BAD LUCK: Saving Vincent Plum Bail Bonds means Stephanie can keep being a bounty hunter. In Trenton, this involves hunting down a man wanted for polygamy, a turnpike toilet paper bandit, and a drug dealer with a pet alligator named Mr. Jingles.
