I find Peter Lovesey's books riveting. Probably because you can never be sure who the criminal is. In this one, about half way through, I decided on one character. Yet Lovesey had Peter Diamond show me again and again that couldn't be the case. In the end it was true, but Lovesey surely kept me entertained.
