I've been a vegan for a number of years and this book is - quite frankly - a pitiful, embarrassing misrepresentation of plant-based diets. The majority of the recipes rely heavily on processed fake meats and cheeses (e.g. a "recipe" for a chef's salad is basically some lettuce, sliced fake ham, sliced fake turkey, sliced fake cheese, etc., ditto with the majority of the paninis and sandwiches), which should **not** be the basis of any healthy diet. I mean, I love a good fake burger from time to time, but only in moderation. It would have been nice to see more recipes based around unprocessed staples...vegetables, grains, beans and such.
In sum: Ew. This book has absolutely nothing of value to offer. If you're looking for a legitimately healthy means of dropping weight, I'd recommend one of Christina Pirello's whole foods cookbooks.

I was unimpressed by this book. My gripes were as follows:
1) No calorie counts
2.) Too much use of overprocessed junk ( soy cheese, soy patties, fake everything.) I understand being Vegan but if you want to give up all animal products then don't try and fake it. Tofu is great but it seemed like every recipe used nothing but over processed soy fakes. If you don't want meat, don't make a recipe that relies on it!
3.) Too much use of coconut oil. This is a calorie bomb and you won't be a "skinny bitch' for long if you use it in every recipe!
Try the Vegenomicon or Vegetarian Times for a much better cook book with less self righteous tude

I HATED this book. It's for the "mean girl" crowd. It didn't speak to me at all, and I couldn't get through it. I swapped it about 3 days after I bought it brand new. I found the tone extremely sarcastic and patronizing, and not at all funny, which I expect was the authors' intention. "Secrets of a Former Fat Girl" was much better. Get that instead :)

If you enjoyed Skinny Bitch, this one's for you. This book helps reinforce what the girls have already told us. Great recipes. I didn't go vegan, however I did cut back on a lot of things and found the recipes tasty and have integrated some of them in to my normal meal plans!

I am not a vegan so this book doesn't work for me. If you are there does seem to be some tasty recipe's in there.

Eh, personally I was a vegetarian for a number of years and this book would have been a big disappointment to me back then. They rely heavily on procssed fake meats, cheeses, and tofu. While it's nice to have some of the fake meats once in a while but to have it in a good protion of their recipes is just boring. After reading their first book, I thought for sure they would have had more recipes that relied more on vegetables, grains and fruits. There were a few good reciepes but overall I found the book to be a big disappointment, and at times a little too expensive to make the foods. I will take their advice from the first book and find my own recipes, and watch the labels. Good luck with this book, it's time for me to blow the dust off of it and post it here.

I liked the first one. I didn't mind the vulgarity, and I didn't mind the "in your face" tone - I felt i learned a lot. Then i figured this book would be a great way to eat healthier. I just don't have any interest in being a vegan. This is a great cookbook for someone who is a vegan, but i think for the average person who just wants to eat healthier - this is a huge miss.

Good recipes; easy to make and mostly easy to find recipes. Pretty basic, but a good book if you are trying to change your diet.

I didn't like this book at all. Vegan doesn't work for me, and neither do a couple of snobby former models. No thanks.

This book has really good recipes, it looks like, but the insistency with some of the ingredients was hard becuase the local supermarket didn'tmhold some of the stuff that was important to a lot of recipes.

I made the mistake of not learning more about this cookbook before ordering it. While reading through the recipes, I got some great ideas for adjusting some of my own recipes. I'm definitely willing to incorporate some of the Skinny Bitch recipes into my diet, like their version of Pad Thai, Big-Ass Veggie Burrito, French Lentil Salad, and Summer Garden Pasta.
I think this is a great resource for someone who is looking to become vegan or is already a vegan.

You don't have to actually be vegan to learn from this book. You can make simple changes to your diet and eat less dairy and meat and this book can help incorporate a few vegan dishes or meals a week. I felt like I was getting more nutrients after altering my diet through ideas in this book.

Excellent information on our current food situations. What is organic? How is our meat processed? How is our food prepared? How,and what, should we eat? Written with humor, this book gives an important look at what we should know before we grocery shop. Some good recipes included.

This cookbook is chock full of recipes to mimic your favorite non-vegan foods. The girls rely heavily on vegan versions of traditional foods, which are usually derived from soy products. I was pleased with the diversity of flavors, but not so happy with the emphasis on the soy foods. The authors also rely on oils quite a bit. This makes the dishes taste fantastic, but is not so helpful for the oil-free vegan crowd. All in all, a quite readable book, with interesting side notes. This book will stay on my cookbook shelf to be used regularly.

This is the companion cookbook to "Skinny Bitch". I despised the book and have no plans to try any of the recipes here. If you're interested in vegan dishes, however, this might be for you. It looks like many of the recipes use processed meat/egg substitutes.

I freakin' LOVE the writing styles of these ladies! What a hoot. And humor in a cookbook- total bonus!!
The book contains some really great ideas for healthy cooking. My only complaint would be that it could be hard to get the rest of my family to buy into vegan meals & alternative options for cheese, meat, etc.
