When I first started this book I thought it was going to be very predictable, but it wasn't. There were twists and turns along the way. This was a really good story about people dealing with many different issues.

When a young couple go into the woods during a party to experience their first time, something happens, and the girl ends up assaulted and raped. With no memory of the event and no one to point the finger to, there is a lot of blame to go around, and it tears their small town apart. Interesting story about relationships, forgiveness, and justice. I will add that there is a scene of graphic animal cruelty in this book.

I was pulled into this book from the very first page until the last page. I agree with those who compared it to a Jodi Picoult book, for it felt just like something she would have written. While I enjoyed the book all in all, I felt like it was set in the 1950s rather than in more recent times. The story line felt to be a bit outdated, plus a few scenes within the book seemed a little unreal. It was a quick read and enjoyable, but a bit unbelievable at times.

I liked the complicated, non- typical families of these teenagers, and how they all deal differently with the rape of a local girl. This book is not so much about the "who done it", although that is certainly the main theme, but more so the interwoven characters in this small town, and how this hideous event involves and impacts so many townspeople.
