If David Niven had been a writer instead of an actor he would have been in the top 10 list for Best Sellers! The books he wrote are precious and few but are outstanding treaures. There is an "old Hollywood Charm" about them that makes them a treat to read. Go Slowly Come Back Quickly is just such a book. The most tragic part of it is when you get to the last page and this wondeful story ends...

Who knew David Niven was such a good writer!! Throughly enjoyed this book!!
Meh. I had loved Mr. Niven's memoirs when they first came out and was surprised to learn that he had also published a novel. I thought for sure that I would enjoy it, but found it so boring that I didn't read much beyond the first chapter. Maybe it got better - I'll never know.
David's friend, William F. Buckley, Jr., thought this Niven's best book. I agree. Five stars.
So interesting tongue-in-cheek insights into Hollywood. One does get caught up in the characters and their story.
