Holy cow. This book was action packed from start to finish. This book is definitely worth reading. I don't want to say a lot about the book because I don't want to give anything away. Harry has a favor he owes Mab that involves Marcone. When Henry accepts, he falls into a world of trouble. He is still teaching Molly, Michael's daughter. Michael gets hurt, and no one knows if he will ever get well again. Reading Small Favor will entice you for the next book, Turn Coat.

Mab, monarch of the Winter Court of the Sidhe, has called on Harry Dresden for a small favor....One he can't refuse. Once again, Harry is in the middle of a conflict between the Winter and Summer Courts of the Sidhe. Mafia Lord Johnnie Marcone is missing. The Summer Queen wants him dead. Mab wants Harry to find him first.

This book is loaded with action. As soon as Harry gets himself and his friends out of one mess, he's in another. There are fights with Gruffs, battles with Hobs, and disagreements with the people he trusts the most. Another great addition to the Dresden Files series. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

Quite an enjoyable read. As the series progresses, I find the stories darker and more mature.

Wow!! I'd become a bit disenchanted with the Dresden File series in general over the last couple of books. This definitely re-sparked my interest!! Jim Butcher really shows his talent with this book. He continues to develop Dresden's character as well as the other various cast members of the series. Lots of plot twists to hold your interest. One heck of a roller coaster ride. You'll definitely find yourself on the edge of your seat cheering for the good guys...one more time.

I'm impressed by how Butcher has maintained the quality of this series even if he doesn't always succeed in one-upping the previous volume, as is the case here. A hard winter has fallen on Chicago, and in the middle of it Harry is attacked by goat-like creatures who he later discovers are the Summer Queen's enforcers - why he does not know. Then Mab, the deadly Winter Queen, calls in the second of the three favors he owes her - she wants him to rescue crime lord Johnny Marcone, who has been kidnapped, and again he does not know why. It's the beginning of a tangle that Harry is sure will turn deadly for him and his friends if he does not figure out the underlying politics. Butcher continues to develop his characters and keep the reader interested in their lives, and Molly is slowly growing nicely into her own power although she is unfortunately relegated to the background in this book. One thing that I really enjoy about this series is how Butcher always manages to throw a surprise twist at the end, which sometimes is a setup for the next volume. I can hardly wait for the next book!

Small Favor by: Jim Butcher
ISBN: 9780451462008

Okayshortest review ever since I dont want to give away too many spoilers!!! Small favor for whom exactly is it for Mab, the monarch of the Winter Court of the Sidhe, the Queen of Air and Darkness or is it for Gentleman Marcone. Perhaps on some deep emotional level, it could even be a favor the deceased: Shiro.

Overall thoughts and review: Four (4) stars because it is another installment in the series that was packed with action from beginning to the ending. It truly was difficult to put down since just about every page had something going on. Again, couldnt give it the fifth (5) and final star since one part was soooo predictablebut then that is the advantage the reader and/or audience has over the characters we always see what they cannot. Last spoiler: Not a happy ending!

This is Book 10 of the Dresden Files.

There was a lot going on in this book. Mab called in her second marker on Harry, and he was obligated to fulfill her request. The problem is that it put Harry in the middle of yet another conflict between the Winter Court, the Summer Court, the Order of the Blackened Denarius, and possibly the Black Council. As if that weren't enough, Harry also finds himself under suspicion by the people that he trusts the most, people who should also trust him in return.

This is a messy book in that there is a lot of direct conflict and fighting, both hand-to-hand and within relationships. I will admit that some of the plot lines got a little fuzzy in the middle. Explanations were provided eventually but I think they could have been more clear. Perhaps I was reading too fast to catch all of the small details. It was all I could do to keep from skimming in order to see what came next.

The series continues to gradually reveal more insight into Harry's ever-growing, enigmatic relationship with Murphy, as well as the bond that runs deeply between Harry and Thomas that both of them recognize but never talk about.

The end of the book provides a lot of information that deals with Lasciel's shadow, the Knights of the Cross, archangels, the Archive, and...Harry goes on a date. In spite of some of the confusion in the middle, this turned out to be another great book.

This book has so much going on it is hard to write a review so not going to write much of one. Taken from the back of the book. "Mab, monarch of the Winter Court of the Sidhe, calls in an old favor from Harry. Just one small favor he can't refuse- one that will trap Harry Dresden between a nightmarish foe and an equally deadly ally and strain his skills and loyalties to their very limits." Sarcastic humor is still the highlight of the book to me. Lots of action and the twist and turns keep you guessing but found myself skimming here and there. Still loving the series.
