I think both of these stories are reprints. I'm sure the 2nd one is because I remember reading it several years ago. That being said, I know I enjoyed the second story..it was pretty cute in fact! The Promise series was so-so IMO..just not my favorite series by this author but since it comes along with the other story it's probably worth reading. I wish she had combined the 2nd story with another short story she set in Alaska though since the 'mood' would already be set!

Two new stories by Debbie Macomber. The first is "Return to Promise." In this story, Dr. Texas (Jane) must leave town suddenly to help her ailing father. In her absence, a newcomer in town sets her sights on Jane's husband, Cal. Yes, it's a return to Promise, Texas and many of the characters from the previous series of stories by Debbie Macomber are woven into this one.
The second is "Mail-Order Bride." Caroline Myers winds up in Alaska for what she thought was a vacation, only to learn that her two spinster aunts answered an ad in her name for a mail order bride. Some very funny circumstances and interestingly new characters in this one. Caroline finds out that perhaps Alaska is more than she bargained for.

Debbie Macomber reissued two books from her backlist (Return to Promise originally published in 2000) and (Mail Order Bride originally published in 1987). I always enjoy a light romantic comedy.

Two separate stories. I had read Promise, Texas. Gold River, Alaska is the second story. They were both light enjoyable stories. I enjoy Debbie's books because you meet 'old friends' from previous books that have been read. In Gold river, Alaska I met two people Debbie has in another book. I got to enjoy their story of how they came to meet.
