This book was just as good, just as funny the second time I read it. When you cannot help laughing out loud you know you know the dialogue and interaction of the characters is great. Don't miss this book.

Fun, quick read. Sizzling attraction without laborious sex scenes (i.e., no TMI intimacy).

This was a quirky romance story and a fast read. The story involves a single mother of two becoming a construction worker, she falls in love with her boss, a crazy aunt, a dog who eats everything (I have one of those), and throw in a neighborhood flasher. If you are looking for a funny fast read, then this is one for you.

Lizabeth Kane needs a job; shes divorced with 2 children. Lacking job skills (but having a history degree), Lizabeth decides to apply for a construction job. The hours are right (they get off work before 4 pm), and she could walk to work, since the construction site is close to her home.
Matt Hallahan is ½ owner of the construction company and instantly attracted to the small woman asking for a job. He doesnt know what she can do but he cant let her leave.
Taking Lizabeth home at the end of the day, he meets her two boys and Aunt Elsie. As he gets to know the family, he starts thinking about marriage. The only problem is that Lizabeth has been an unhappy wife and wants to learn to be independent. She also doubts the maturity of a man with a Harley and a tattoo.
To further complicate things, theres a flasher who makes nightly visits to Lizabeths home. All of this silliness makes for a typical Evanovich book. It is a quick book that isnt troubled with too much plot -- but offers some chuckles.

Surprisingly enough I loved this book! I'm not a Janet Evanovich fan, or should I say I'm not a Stephanie Plum fan, so I was leery of reading anything by Ms. Evanovich. However, I'm so glad that I did because like I said I loved this story. This is a seriously cute love story. It reminds me of Maureen Child's Marconi Sisters trilogy. Same writing style, a quick read, instant lust between hero and heroine, humorous and flirty.
Matt Hallahan is a great guy who really needs a family - his sucks as did his childhood. Lizabeth has ready-made family with two boys and needs a man in her life but doesn't want to admit it. The courtship is sweet and Matt really has lots and lots of patience which he definitely needs especially when the dog keeps stealing dinner. Cute cute cute, need I say more?

Cute, quick read. One of the early Evanovich books that have been re-released. The plot is pretty flimsy, but if you are looking for a light-hearted romance with lots of laughs, this is a good choice.

Smitten is the story of a single mom with a fixer-upper house and a desperate need to find a job. Desperate times call for desperate measures and our single mom talks a local carpenter into giving her a position on his crew. Okay, so it's a pity position, and she knows zip about construction, but it's a start, right? And, of course, the carpenter is gorgeous and sexy and single. If you like Janet Evanovich you will like this book.
Book Description: "Single mom Lizabeth Kane isn't exactly carpenter material -- she's never picked up a hammer in her life. But she desperately needs the construction job that builder Matt Hallahan is offering. And even though he knows trouble is ahead, Matt can't refuse Lizbeth's irresistible smile.
Matt Hallahan isn't exactly relationship material -- he has always been too busy working on other people's houses to make a home of his own. And even though she knows better, Lizabeth can't stop thinking about the rugged carpenter.
Is the relationship Matt and Lizabeth are building solid -- or more like a house of cards?"

Very funny and quirky, great read!
One of Evanovich's newer books...loved it!!
laugh out loud, sweet book about a divorced mom who goes to work in a construction business. Fast read.

Good popcorn reading
I love the Plum series, this was more of a romance novel, not really my thing.
Fun, romantic, feel good book - a quick read. Not up to the par of the Plum series but a fun read none the less.
Early Evanovich. Not Stephanie Plum but entertaining.
Light, fun read.
Although this was a fun read it was my least favorite of all of Evanovichs books. I think that the romance moved a bit too fast for me. I otherwise enjoyed the humor.
Quick fun book
I have read all of Janet Evanovick's books - this one was written before she thought of Stephanie Plum...but I just loved Smitten!!!
Love this book!
A fun read about a single mother, her kooky aunt, her need for a job, her boss, the carpenter, and her dog.

Another enjoyable pre-Plum romance by Evanovich. An entertaining, easy read.
Is written in true Envanovich style.
Sexy and fun read.
For one of her first novels it was good. I enjoyed reading this book and think you will to, if you are a Evanovich fan. The characters are quirky and the story itself is fun. Hope you enjoy it as I did.
Fun, easy read
Romance novel about a single mom who becomes a carpenter for a local builder. Hilarious at times!
Loved this story,pretty funny!
Light and fluffy. Not bad, but not much there. YOu can read it in 1 or 2 days easily. It was out of print for a long time until Janet Evanovich became successful with the Stephanie Plum series. You can see the beginnings of the Grandma Mazur character and Bob the dog, too.
A single mom has a fixer-up house, is recently divorced, and desperately needs to find a job. She gets hired as a carpenter. So begins a story involving a goofy dog, a naked stalker,a sexy, single carpenter, and a nutcase aunt.
Cute light story.........
This book was a very easy read. As always, Evanovich has her wacky characters, Not too much mystery in this one as it bears more as a love story more than anything. I loved reading this book because the male character had me smitten!!!
Typical JE - cute romance with funny moments.
This book is a very easy, fast-paced read.
loved it! I could see shades of the future Stephanie Plum novels and it was a fun read.
If your a fan of Janet Evanovich you've got to read this book. It's just as funny as her stephanie Plum series. It is also a quick read.
Very easy read, finished in a day. Funny and lighthearted.
Fun, cute, easy read book. . . Enjoy !
Just the change of pace your looking for. . .

This is another throwback from a decade ago, but it is still a funny light hearted romantic story. All about a divorced woman w/ 2 kids trying to make it as a carpenter and a very handsome carpenter who isn't sure why he hired her, but knows he wants to be with her. In classic Evanovich style there is the totally absurd gun toting aunt, dog, flasher, Harley and lots of unsure love.
It only took me a couple hours to read, so grab this book, sit down on the blanket at the beach or the park and escape the real world for awhile with a book that has more laughs than sighs!

Very cute book.....I read it in one day...very fast easy read......lighthearted read
Pretty good light romance by the author of the best selling Stephanie Plum novels.
quick, predictable, easy read
Cute, quick read. Not one of Evanovich's "number" books but has her flair.
A story about a mother who is raising her son alone. She has a fixer up house and needs a job. The local construction guy gives her a job and thing progress from there.
Gotta love Evanovich
Good book. You can tell she is setting up to write her Stephanie Plum series. I accidentally bought two, so you know it's got to be funny! I always like when there is a cute animal who brings our lovebirds together.
I'm a dog lover, so the combination of romance and dogs with Janet E's writing were a win/win for me!
I LOVED this book! It was written before Evanovich started her series. The heroine is loveable and REAL. She's recently divorced, trying to find a job after being a "stay-at-home" mom and wife for over 10 years. She applies for a job as a carpenter's helper even though she knows nothing about buildings. Readers are in for a fun ride!
This one was cute. Again another of Evanovich's that didn't disappoint.
Fun, fast read.
Cute book - pre-Stephanie Plum novel but smacks of her characters that must have been in development at the time.
Excellent pre-Plum story, very funny and you can see the Plum characters taking shape.
Another quick read by Janet Evanovich. I love the romance, humor and happy ending!
Fun read about a single mother trying to make it on her own and falling in love. Originally published as a Loveswept paperback.
Hapless woman w/ten yr old gets involved with contractor.
A delightful early romance book of this author. A funny tale full of zany characters, featuring a young divorced woman with 2 kids and no marketable skills who gets a job as a construction worker for a hunk contractor.
Cute, mindless read. I love Evanovich, so I'm biased ;-) This is a good "read at the beach" book.
Enjoyable, quick read.
quick reading and funny just an all around good book!!!!!!!!!!
Fun book.
Very fast read. Not sure I would call this a love story or really call it smut somewhere in between. Fun, easy going.
Just have to love this author. Love the humor throughout the story line. Enjoy!!

I loved this book! What a feel good easy read for a rainy fall day!
if you are a fan of Stephanie Plum you'll enjoy some earlier characters with similar traits. Aunt Elsie very akin to Grandma Mercer
Excellent Book. Evanovich is always enjoyable to read.
Another hilarious romance from Evanovich! Loved it!!
Very enjoyable light read. I read it in 6 hours! Sometimes you just need a book like this one!
An early Evanovich with hints of the success to come. A quick read.
Cute book, fast read. Another good book by Evanovich!
I liked it, but it's too fluffy for me to want to keep. A quick, fun, amusing little romance with some sideslips into passion.

Short, sweet, funny and easily finished in one sitting.
Another humerous comedy romance by Janet.

Very cute, funny book. I love Aunt Elsie!
Easy read, I liked it!
Cute and light. Funny characters!
Good book. Very easy read.
Good, quick read.
Another good Evanovich...a good, short beach read. Not a Plum, but close!
This is a cute and funny story.
A light, quick read
really enjoyed this book
All Evanovich books are great reads full of laughs
One of Janet Evanovich's early stories. A good read, if a little short and sweet.
Single mother goes for a job as a carpenter and gets more than she applied for. :-)
This is my first book by this author. I loved it. It was such a cute story.
Another good one by Janet Evanovich!

A great love story from Janet Eavnovich!
great book!
Absolute fun to read!
Originally published in 1990; a fun book to read with a loving couple, two kids, a dog, a cat and a zany aunt to liven up the story.
A quick and easy read.
Very cute story about a single mother hunting a job, a constuction worker boss, and the dog that brings them together. I enjoyed this book.
I found myselfaughing so much while reading this book.
funny though I love all of her books and people at work thinks I am on drugs when I read one of her books for the laughing out loud or I need to be on medication. Well done book.
cute. A fun read.
A delicious romance. Light and happy reading. Love Janet's sense of humor and I'm so glad she writes quickly so I can get a "happy fix" regularly.
Another fun Janet Evanovich book.
Hard-pressed single mom goes for construction work - and worker. Very pleasant chick-lit.
Good book. Love all her work.
This was another cute read - very fast and I just love how she incorporates crazy dogs into her stories just like she does in the Plum series. I liked how she kept Elsie in this book from the Rocky Road to Romance - she's a great character and reminds me of Grandma Mazur. :)
Cute story. Not one of my favorite Evanovich but cute story nonetheless. Fast Read!

Predictable. Good for filling in time on the subway in the morning.
Fun book, one of EVanovich's first, before the Plum novels; features an appearance by Elsie Hawkins, the prototype for Grandma Mazur of the Plum series
A real bon-bon. You could read it in an afternoon. A loveable heroine and vintage Evanovich ribald humor.
Cute book
Cute...quick read...early model of Stephanie Plum books.

Light entertaining book.
Single mom Lizbeth Kane wasn't exactly construction-worker material, but she truly wanted a job - and Matt Hallahan found her radiant smile utterly irresistible! When the virile hunk with the perfectly tanned chest agreed to hire her as a laborer, Lizbeth felt her heart - and her libido - send up a cheer. Since her divorce from a snobby philanderer, she'd frankly lost interest in men, but this macho carpenter who smelled of sawdust and musk made her senses sizzle. Matt was a ride through white water, a shot of adrenaline that revived her flirting instincts - but teasing a man of action had deliciously dangerous romantic results! Matt was charmed by Lizbeth's enthusiasm, her spunky kids and wacky aunt, and did his best to seduce the lady in every room of her ramshackle home. Lizbeth worried that they were too different, that he was overly protective, that she'd make him a terrible wife. Could Matt prove she needed him as much as he needed her?
