This is a collection of short stories and poems, and my feelings are mixed. Some pieces are brilliant, some good, some eh, and some I just don't get. Gaiman is a talented writer, but I can only relate to about half the stuff he writes. Two in particular I enjoyed in this anthology are his 100-word Christmas card story Nicholas Was... and his brilliant twisted version of the Snow White fairy tale, Snow, Glass, Apples.

Neil Gaiman has fast become my favorite author. A fine mix of fantasy and mystery. This is a collection of short stories that will introduce you to his writing.

An overall good book to read. Some of the short stories in S&M fell a little flat in the endings department. I was waiting for the one two knockout punch at the end of some of the stories but it was never delivered. I was left with a "Um OK" sort of feeling. Don't get me wrong there are some great short stories in S&M and it is a must read if you are a Neil Gaiman fan.
Great book, I especially appreciated the short history about how each story came about.

A very pleasing short-story collection, which further establishes Gaimans versatility as an author.
An anthology of short stories, ranging from horror to fantasy to just a little strange, lol. All good, some great and all typical Neil Gaiman.

If you are a fan of Neil Gaiman, you will like the stories.
A masterpeice of the short story form! Gaiman does not get his leterary due. Even for pepole not normaly into this type of genre, it should be read if nothing else than for an example of the mastery of the short story. Allthough I am a fan of Gaimans work, I almost wonder if at times his short stories even surpase his novels. I highly recomend this book, and can't say enough good things about it! Everyone should read it!
