This book ties together characters from Dorothy Bodoin's other series of books, those set in Maple Creek and Foxglove Corners. If you've been following those series you'll recognize the sexy police Capt. Mike Slater from Maple Creek and the Foxglove Corner's collies. In Snowhedge, after Susanna's kennel burns she is approached by a supposed to be lost relative offering a safe place to hide out until the arsonist can be found. She and her tri-colored collie Romy move into an old Victorian house as sitter while it is for sale. But then the "relative" disappears supposedly to Florida and never answers her phone and the realtor cannot be reached and her office is vacant. When strange occurrences begin to happen in the house Susanna begins to question whether she is alone or if the house is haunted. Mike Slater becomes her ally in helping to determine what is going on. I won't say more about what is going on between Susanna and Mike, but it seems he's finally getting the girl. I truly enjoyed this book and think it is one of Bodoin's best yet. I can't understand why she's not got a larger following. All her books, and especially this one, are wonderful mysteries, well written, with believable characters. They stand alone in that it isn't necessary to read them in sequence but they do want the reader to go back and pick up the others as the places and the secondary characters play important roles and leave you wanting to know what happens to them.
