I really enjoyed this book! I did not know it was Christian Science Fiction and about half-way thru the book I realized there was no curse words in the book and no extraneous sex scenes thrown in (which is a common find in most "mainstream" books). And I was pleasantly surprised to find it made the story better and didn't detract in anyway from the story-line. So even if you don't usually read "Christian" fiction, if you like sci-fi, give this one a try.

The story itself has quite a few twists and turns. It starts with a disgraced professor who was torn up by the media for making a wrong prediction regarding solar flares. And his worst fear comes true when the sun again starts to look like it will have a solar flare, which could disrupt society and electrical power IF he is right....

So the story starts from there and leads into all types of situations with the professor, his daughter, the president of the United States, a few rogue senators and 4 star generals and gang members looting & pillaging for all they are worth!

I really liked the story, and because it doesn't have a ton of swear words or sexual situations (there is romance but no graphic sex descriptions), I feel like I can loan this one out to my teenage daughter to read without worry.

Great for the adult reader and young reader alike.

This book reveals how precarious of an edge our society exists on and how quickly people can become uncivilized when they have to face the unexpected. And yet, in the midst of chaos, there really are good people in the world who seek to do good, even at their own expense.

ANOTHER LOOK AT THE FALL AND REBIRTH OF CIVILIZATION AFTER A NATURAL DIASTR. WELL WRITTEN, FAST ACTION KEEPS THE PACE GOING. I READ IT AS QUICK AS I COULD.

Gets a bit preachy at the end, and I think the author's got something against the ACLU. He's mentions them negativily around 5 to 7 times. And no, they are not part of the plot...otherwise, a good hard sci-fi about the Sun and society.

Horribly disappointing. Less science fiction literature and more political agenda than anything. First of all it takes more than half the book to actually get to the major solar flare that disables communications and electrical devices and so forth, but what is really annoying is the unrelenting pushing of the conservative political agenda.

I love the premise of the book and would have enjoyed a story about what would happen should this come to pass - especially in relationships between people and the breakdown of neighborhoods and the cities and so forth. There is little character development. It has such potential and there a scattered parts that address what I would be interested in, but overall just a sham to promote a political belief system. I wanted to cry with disappointment. What a waste.

Great book! Made me think of the old old days and how it would be if we lived during this time!

Really good novel by the late Larry Burkett.

This book is such a prophetic statement of what could possibly happen to us as our society is moving away from logic, common sense and values. It is a page turner. I love it and would recommend it to anyone who loves a good book without vulgar or graphic language.

This is a great tape if you are familiar with Larry Burkett - In this tape he uses the natural phenomenon of a Solar flare to rebuild civilization as we know it; if you are offended by his Chr-stian principles this probably ISN'T the book/tape for you but if that's o.K. then this will read like the Chr-stian Action Adventure novel that the failure of Y2K cheated you out of...!
