So good! Harsh early life events shaped Clara and Quincy into strong, likable characters. Their engagement may have started as a ruse, but I loved that they were a team from the beginning. A relief, too, that the plot wasn't hampered by misunderstandings and needless separations despite the machinations of a certain "devil in a gown," er, duchess. It doesn't take much to figure out Clara's deep secret, but Quincy's got a few surprises of his own, too. This was a lovely romance between an emotionally mature couple who don't waste time with their heads in the sand. I'll definitely read more by this author. 4 stars.
