Next in the Grace and Favor series. Good historical mystery. Robert finds a body in an old icehouse; Hoovervilles, disenchanted WW1 vets, more.

A delightful book. I think the series is fun to read It is interesting to follow Lily and Robert as they become responsible/giving adults in a difficult time. It is also informative as to the social problems and restrictions of the post-crash era. I am looking forward to a continuation of the series.

Set against a background of the Great Depression, this light hearted mystery sets a brother-sister team to solving 2 murders, one recent, one a decade old.

Pleasant, quick light read.

While tearing down a dilapidated ice house on the property, Robert Brewster inadvertently stumbles upon a well-dressed, mummified human corpse, the obvious victim of foul play. And as Robert's sister, Lily Brewster works hand-in-hand with the disarmingly attractive Chief of Police Howard Walker on the local front and Robert pursues the Manhattan connection in search of their well-heeled John Doe's identify, a second dead body turns up to complicate an already complexly murderous matter--tying the Brewsters up in a knotty mess of deception and betrayal...and leaving them dangerously exposed to the watchful eyes of a killer.

Very interesting book set during the depression of the 1930's. Now I'm on a search to see if the disturbing historical entries are true.

I like anything Jill Churchill writes and I wish she were still publishing her books. This is a gentile mystery series set during the Great American Depression and chronicles the trials of a brother and sister who are barely able to eke out a living. Inheriting a distant relative's estate is a blessing even if they must leave New York and live in the house in a small town to reap the monetary benefits. Nice cozy mystery series with likable characters.

beautifully written , with abit of shocking history thrown in. I learned things, really distressing things that we were never taught in school....and patton called himself a hero! what gall! Hoover ...there are no words, at least not polite words.

An entertaining series staring a brother and sister during the depression years. They were once wealthy members of society, but their father committed suicide and left them penniless. They now live on estate that was left to them by a wealthy uncle. The provisions for their inheritance has major stipulations. In this book, a mummified body is found in the old abandoned ice house. An enjoyable read......

Lily and her brother Robert were living high on the hog in Manhattan until the Crash of '29 took the family fortune south. Abruptly penniless, they have taken up residence in their late great-uncle Horatio's upstate estate on the banks of the Hudson. While tearing down a dilapidated ice house on the property, Robert inadvertently stumbles upon a well-dressed, mummified human corpse.
