Something Borrowed, Something Mewed is the fifth installment in the Lucky Paws Petsitting Mystery series featuring Daphne Templeton and her philosophical basset hound, Socrates. Things are buzzing in Sylvan Creek as preparations are under way for the upcoming wedding between Daphne's sister Piper and her fiance, Roger. Unfortunately, the girls mother Maude has hired event planner Abigail Sinclair, who has decided on an over the top Fourth of July themed wedding complete with bridesmaid dresses resembling the Statue of Liberty.

Daphne also is tasked with pet sitting for Abigail's feline, Ms. Peebles. The little feline always seems to be caught in precarious situations and constantly needs rescuing so when Daphne goes to check on the cat and can't find her she begins searching through Abigail's house and stumbles across Abigail's body submerged in the courtyard fountain.

With her boyfriend Detective Jonathan Black away in California on an assignment and determined not to let his partner Detective Fred Doebler once again accuse one of her family or friends of murder, Daphne sets out with Socrates to track down a killer. Nosing around it doesn't take long to discover that Abigail wasn't running her event planning business on the up and up, and plenty of suspects emerge including the groom's uncle, Brother Alf Sievers, who runs a monastery, Daisy Carpenter who owns the local eatery, In a Pickle, and is the human handler of Snowdrop (Socrates girlfriend) and Abigail's own employees.

A hilarious and delightful romp from the first page to the last, this latest installment solidifies the series as my absolute favorite in the cozy genre. Perfect mysteries, the number one canine companion, a cast of critters including cats, a rat and a mini pig and just the right touch of romance between the humans (and pets) I strongly encourage everyone to take a trip to Sylvan Creek.
