Excellent return to the Mitford series! Full of hope and life!
Loved finding out that Mitford was inspired by Miss Read, which I discovered after reading the Mitford books, but enchanted to find out about the connection before reading this book. If you haven't started that series, please check it out.

I didn't realize Jan Karon was continuing the Mitford series, but oh how I've missed the people from Mitford. This is a very good read and you feel so warm and good while you're there with the myriad of citizens in Mitford. Heartwarming is an understatement. This book picks up the story, but could stand alone (although you might have some problems determining relationships). Again - if you're a Mitford fan, this is a great addition. I hope there are more to come!

As with all the Mitford books, we thoroughly enjoyed this one, too! We are looking forward to the next book in the series.
Also, having just read that Jan Karon credits the "Miss Read" books as an inspiration, that explains the feeling of peacefulness that I have always had reading Mitford. Having read the "Miss Read" books eons ago, it now all makes sense!

The usual character driven tale about life with Father Tim and his family and friends in the mountains of North Carolina. Father is restless and unsure of his place in the world now that he has retired and he seems to be pastoring his flock anyway as he volunteers at the local bookstore. Very rich and deeply meaningful and well written.

A wonderful new book with Father Tim & Cynthia and all the other known and loved characters in Mitford. A joyous ending as well!
