Whether you loved them or hated them: they had children. Did you ever wonder how the scandal their family faced affected those kids. Here is the story of their son. He had a rough time. Alcohol, drugs, rejection. It also is the story of how he began a ministry for other kids like himself.... who were frowned upon by the established churches. A very inspiring book.

Refreshing view on what happened with the Bakkers years ago. Very honest perspective from a humble young man who seems to really love the Lord.

One of my favorite books. I read this book on a road trip I took with my husband back in 2003. It seems like everyone knows who Jim Bakker is and have opinions about him and his wife Tammy Faye but nobody really knows what really happened in the family.
In thie book Jay Bakker (Jim and Tammy's son) tell his story. It is really powerful and i would suggest it to anyone who loves to read.

I was excited to read this book but I felt a little meloncholy at the end. It was a sad story of a kid who sees the mistakes of his parents splashed all over Saturday Night Live and he couldn't understand how the world could be laughing. I wanted to put my arm around Jay and tell him, "This is the real world kid." It's kind of a realization of what our society can do to a human being who is just trying to do some good in the world. Fame just builds pressure and the media will either dig and dig till it hit dirt; or they sit back and wait for the pressure to cause an imperfect human being to implode. And when that person takes a fall, everyone goes for the ratings regardless of who it hurts.
I thought it was worth the read to see what Jay does with reinventing himself beyond his parents. You are compelled to cheer him on.
