While I can't say I am a great fan of this series---still reading it because I have most of the books---I found this one so full of interesting, interlocking mysteries I lost count. For several of the mysteries (murders and disappearances) I figured out what was going on before Hugh Corbett explained it. But the final mystery---did the treasure still exist or was it lost?---I had to wait until the end.

And despite how big a rogue Ranulf is, I'm beginning to like him.
