I requested this book after reading Angela's Ashes. This one was not nearly as good as Angela's Ashes. It was still a bittersweet memoir of growing up poor on the streets of NYC in the 50's as an Irish Catholic Immigrant.
The author wrote best sellers about his experiences as a NYC firefighter, but here Dennis Smith recalls his childhood and growing up years in an Irish immigrant family.
