This is a lovely coming of age story for a preteen girl who, though she is really into a much older boy, realizes the importance of being herself and not rushing into a relationship she can't handle. It is amazing.

I had this book as a teen an read it over and over. I watched the TV movie, fell in love with Rex Smith and bought the album. I wanted to be Jessie. *sigh*
like lasergirl70, this is one of those books that i read over and over and over again when i was a teenager. i danced around to the LP (yes, a real record NOT a CD!) and have the DVD. It's cheesy by today's standards, but it's still a wonderful story of first love and having a crush and wanting to grow up quicker than you should.
My name is Jessie Walters. Everyone calls me Jessie, except Michael siometimes calls me Jess(I love that). I'm thirteen. Michael's seventeen. I think I can handle myself with Michael most of the time. But when he looks at me, I freak out. He's so attractive and so different from anyone my own age. I don't think Michael would be very interested in me if he knew my real age-even if I am going to be fourteen in a few months. And I hate having to lie to him because I have to keep covering up with more lies. I have to tell him the truth soon, but I just can't gat myself to say it. Well I got myself into this and I'll get myself out. Without a scratch I hope.
