After reading TG's first four, this book is kind of a let down... It's still really good, it's just there are several chapters that go on about the elaborate banquets the Anders hold. I had to have a sandwich while reading and re-reading this one. I like the hidden philosophy in every book in this series and especially this one. Very interesting...
I was addicted by the first sentence of Wizard's First Rule. This story is pretty action packed if not a little bit odd at times. But don't take my word for it...

Great adult fantasy series. It does have undertones of sexuality as well as themes including severe torture. If you don't mind these themes it is a good read.

This is the fifth book in the sword of Truth series. It's very involved and I would recommend reading the books one after the other just so you can keep up.

The story is getting old and tired by now. Even with the introduction of new characters it is stale, boring and predictable.

The series definitely hits a slow spot with this book. I felt a lot of frustration in this book, and the story didn't progress like I wanted it to. The 1st 4 books of this series took me on a whirlwind of excitement and adventure. The middle of this series slows down and becomes overly-descriptive and preachy. We all know about Richard's cause, we don't need to hear him preach it 12 pages at a time to everyone he comes across.

Still, I love the characters enough to keep going.

I love this series.

I agree with other reviewers that this one seemed a bit stretched out. The storyline was decent but it felt like the author was trying to make this book just as long as the others. I did get bored with the multiple Ander banquets, etc that were detailed so minutely. Once I started just skimming those parts, the book went quicker and held my interest more.
I did like the fact that this story wasn't resolved because of some "antidote" that Richard had to obtain or do to fix the problem. He tapped into his 'magic' and came up with the solution on his own - which I appreciated, rather than his reading it in a book. Although tedious, I would recommend this book as the story was interesting and I'm looking forward to continuing the series.
