I came late to this series, but loved the book! There's a good story, about partners who own a successful "new" restaurant and the convicted murderer who returns to cook in a New Orleans kitchen after his release. There's local color, as author Brite uses her native knowledge of New Orleans to illustrate the customs and prejudices of New Orleans natives. There's kitchen action in description not only of the tantalizing meals coming out of the ill fated restaurant of the title, but the book's franchise kitchen, Liquor, as well as a vividly described and revolting meal at a cutting edge temple of molecular gastronomy. Overall, one book that I picked up with no preconceptions and still enjoyed.

A great continuation of the "Liquor" series, full of laughs, great food, a truly surprising twist and an unexpected level of tenderness. The only thing keeping me from giving it five stars are a couple of spots where I though there was too much exposition, but don't let that stop you from enjoying this great book.
