Love this one. It has been part of my collection for many years but I have decided to set it free.

I love this book. I bought it in hardback back in the early 80s when it first came out. RM Brown can create the most vivid, memorable characters, so real that you almost bleed for them. I wouldn't get rid of my copy of this for anything. This one is by far my favorite of hers.
a very funny read...probably Rita Mae at her best...after this read Bingo the sequel...even funnier
A quintessential Rita Mae Brown.
unusually frank and incisive.... I enjoyed this book, though at times the sexual stuff is a bit over the top...
This book was facinating and fun. It's a historical romantic drama set in the early 1900's with interesting characters and a pretty good depiction of what life was like living in the South back then. I enjoyed it a lot.
you will laugh outloud reading this book, one of my favorites by this author. set in the south, she writes her charachters vividly.
and if you like this on ,read the sequel Bingo another 4-5star book.

One of my favorite books of all time! A total spoof on the southern lifestyle...outrageous and funny! Rita Mae at her best!
I found this an odd book, but I enjoyed it.It's about a wealthy woman who meets and loves a young prizefighter and what happens in their lives.
