I absolutely loved this book. It was a very suspenseful book and I found myself getting deeper and deeper into the lives of the characters in the book.

The back of the the book is as follows: Peggy Buchanan was such an adorable little girl, all blond curls and sweetness. Then came the tragic day when her family found Peggy floating in the icy water of their swimming pool, dead, her white dress billowing around her. Her sisters, Laura and Elizabeth, couldn't imagine life without Peggy. They knew from that day forward their lives would be changed forever. But they couldn't know the nightmare that waited for them. Peggy may be dead- but she hasn't left them. As the sisters grow up, a string of inexpicable deaths threatens to shatter their lives. No matter how warm the weather, each corpse shows signs of severe frosbite... and each victim's dying moments are tortured by a merciless little girl in a white dress, whose icy kiss is colder than death.

This is an interesting ghost story, but I stopped three-quarters of the way through because it went on and on. I've read two or three of his other books that I enjoyed more.

I usually just pick up a Masterton book and do not put it down until it is finished. I had a lot of trouble getting into this book. The usual imagery is missing, and the plot line just seems to plod along.

Started out well and had some truly scary moments but then the plot became muddled and I had a hard time finishing it.

A little slow at the beginning but good suspense after that.

Graham Masterton's 'Spirit' is a terrific read. His characters are alive and make the reader feel as though they are part of his/her own family. The supernatural story plot is very unique and imaginative. There are times during the story when the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. This novel is well-written. It sends the reader back in time to the 1940 & early 1950 eras. I felt very sad for the main characters with respect to all that happened to their lives in the story. It was very realistic. If you are looking for a happy ending, this book isn't for you. But if you want to experience a good read, I highly recommend 'Spirit'. It's a 'hauntingly' good book. 'Spirit' was the first book I've ever read by Masterton. I've already purchased another of his books and plan to read more as well.

This was the first time I read this author. The book was a little draggy but there was something about it that held my interest throughout. I can't wait to start my next book by this author.

When a book just can't keep your interest in the first 20 pages but yet you still plod on with the hope it gets better but after another 20 pages and it just drags along and another 20 pages and it still just drags, then it's time to quit, maybe it gets better after the halfway mark but who wants to read half a book before it gets interesting.
