This is on the list of my favorite Brenda Joyce books ever. Perhaps what I like best is the sweeping historical nature. It's definitely not your typical ballroom romance. It's got adventure, star crossed lovers, and just true heart. This really is one of my favorite romance books, so much so that I just haven't been able to part with my now dog eared copy.
We've all got our favorites, I just wanted to give a shout out for this one.

I truly enjoyed this book of Brenda Joyce. She paints a vivid picture of Carolyn and Nicolas's life and love, and helps the reader suspend the disbelief of the circumstances that would have kept these lovers apart. A fabulous, fantastical story of two lovers in difficult times against impossible circumstances.
