"Secrets left piled upon one's soul held the power to crush it. I didn't want to hold on to them any longer. It was time to tell the truth." In Spotlight and Shadow, Rachel Scott McDaniel.

The newest book in the Doors to the Past series from Barbour Publishing, In Spotlight and Shadow by Rachel Scott McDaniel features the historic Loew's Penn Theatre in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This is a dual timeline plot with storylines set in the 1920s and present day, each featuring a heroine with many secrets and a hero who's part of her past.

This novel has something for every reader to enjoy - intrigue, romance, humor, family tension, music, and backstage theater drama. I loved the ways the storylines were linked and was invested in solving the mysteries in both. The elements of faith woven into each plot felt natural and gave them more depth and meaning.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.
