I've enjoyed all the books in the Haunted Guesthouse series. There are a few things that happened at the end that seemed to me as if the author were "tying up loose ends" for the series. I'm wondering if maybe this is the last in the series since she's previously never gone past 3 books in any series. If so all I can say is "it's about time." This was convoluted and people just acted plain stupidly. It seems the ghosts, the 13 year old daughter and a young toddler were the only ones who had an ounce of common sense. Somehow it seems easier for me to believe there are ghosts floating around than it is to believe that this innkeeper texts all the potential bad guys demanding they come to dinner. And that's what they do. They all show up griping about why they had to show up w/ such short notice. Yeah... WHY? The arrive, and have dinner while many of them are sitting there w/ guns, making threats; but they're all gobbling down the 13 year old's MIRACULOUSLY delicious chicken. They've got guns drawn, are threatening to kidnap various people, but "DINNER IS SERVED" and they all move en masse to the dining table. Yeah. Uh huh.
She must just know a better class of "gangland murderers."

Alison's ex follows their daughter to New Jersey and they figure out that he's running away from some trouble. Alison is not thrilled to have him locally, and tells him he has to leave in two days. With mobster-types looking for the swine, Paul the ghost working on some electric experiment, and a policewoman who refuses to entered the haunted house, Alison has hands full. Then one of the mobster-types ends up dead, and all hell breaks loose.

Apparently this is the last book in the series and I will miss all the goings on at the haunted guesthouse. There are several wrap ups for the characters in this book.
