Quick read for me. I enjoyed the story and the characters. The time period of post civil war was not as predominant in the writing, instead it gave me insight into living on a farm.
It bothered me a little where animals were harmed but I still enjoyed this book.

I LOVED this book. It has made me a fan of Linda Lael Miller. I love her depiction of life in the 1800's. I felt like I was there. The relationship between Scully and Evangline had the right touch of tension. I won't spoil the end. Can't wait to read the other books in this series.
Linda Lael Miller brings the American West to a book once again, this is a great series around a bustling Montana stagecoach stop. If you love historical romances, this is a good one for you.
I loved this book and can't wait to read the rest of the series.
Perfect sexual tension of two people in love who cannot act on their love without dishonoring themselves. And love of a child which I always like. Love the old pioneer westerns.
Wow! What a great start for a series. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters all very possible characters and strong background story. I would highly recommended this complete series to anyone. I am now starting Sringwater Wedding. Hope it is just as good.
This is the first book in a series about a bustling stage coach stop in Montana called Springwater Station. It is a real feel good series and makes you want to read all the books to see how the town blossoms.
I enjoyed reading this. I've always been fascinated with this time period and living in the "untamed West". I look forward to reading about Rachel, Susannah, Miranda, and Jessica.
I love all her books. This is the first in the series. She has a good way of telling her stories.

Good book! I've read all the Springwater books. This is how it began.
Great first book to a new series in Spring Water.
This is the first book by Linda Lael Miller that I read and now I'm hooked. I especially enjoyed this first in the Springwater series because I thought she did an admirable job of describing the setting so that the reader feels she is there with the characters.
This historical romance should appeal to those who enjoy a Western setting, with all its challenges whether it is the weather, Indians, hardships, etc. Ms. Miller gives us believable characters and a realistic plot. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did

Book Description
Evangeline Keating came west because she had to: after her husband's passing, she needed to build a new life for her young daughter, and marrying a stranger from Montana Territory was her best chance. After a difficult winter journey, she arrives at an isolated outpost called Springwater Station. But the handsome man who's come for her is not her husband-to-be, and Evangeline soon finds herself thrust into a most inconvenient -- and highly improper -- arrangement.
Scully Wainwright never intended to be left alone with his ranching partner's fiancée. But his partner's not due back until spring, and he can't leave a defenseless woman and her child unguarded -- not with wolves and Indians threatening. Biding his time with the lovely Evangeline begins to feel dangerously close to setting up a real home. But as a reckless passion sparks between them, Scully and Evangeline discover a destiny -- and a passion -- as boundless as the open frontier.
