Allison Brennan is one of the best mystery-suspense-thriller authors writing today! I have been a big fan of her books since I read my first, THE PREY. I have read all of them (in order :) just because I have to*) and STALKED ranks among my favorites.
STALKED grabs the reader from the start and keeps you on the "edge of your seat" --chapter after chapter. I didn't want to put it down which earned me some frowns from my family over the recent holiday.
She is a master storyteller, weaving in just enough back story to give the book depth and the reader enough knowledge. The mystery is compelling and complex; with gritty and genuine characters. She's not afraid to kill-off likable characters for the sake of the story. (It happened in KILLING FEAR. I still remember my shock and indignation on behalf of a certain character. I am sure I wrote to Allison, "how could you?")
STALKED continues Lucy Kincaid's story--Lucy is now (finally) a new trainee at the FBI Academy in Quantico. She has grown so much as a character from a teenage victim to a smart, intuitive and brave young woman. Her relationship with Sean Rogan deepens. I believe this is the 5th Lucy and Sean story. My only criticism of this book is I wish there was more romance--okay, sex, in it. Like the "proverbial carrot" Lucy and Sean's relationship is dangled in front of the reader. :)
Favorite characters return in this book, FBI profiler Hans Vigo (goes all the way back to THE PREY), FBI agents Noah Armstrong and Suzanne Madeaux, Assistant Director Rick Stockton, sister-in-law, Kate Donovan, brothers Dillon and Patrick Kincaid and of course Sean Rogan. I love this about Allison's books--we get introduced to intriguing, sometimes flawed, characters and we get to see their personality develop and evolve in a later book. I hope Noah and Rick get a book of their own sometime. (SOON!)
Thank you Allison Brennan for giving us another fabulous read!
