I found his early life very interesting, since England's class system is much more obtrusive than in the US, and he gives interesting summaries of his ancestry. Also neat is the street-level view of the emergence of the punk scene(s). One could grow exasperated with his voracious womanizing, but he describes it tastefully. I only know "Goody Two Shoes" so the chronicles of his career don't really strike a chord.
