With the new movie coming out I would like to read some of the Star Wars books.  Where should one begin?  Any suggestions?  Thanks for the help.

This may be a bit late but here is a great article that gives you a good guide

This lists the novels, t.v. series, graphic novels and games.  This is the Disney approved canon which changed in 2012. 

There are the Extended Universe novels which are more varied and many more of them.  Here is a link to a reading guide for them
