Adored this book. The writing style isn't what I'm accustomed to, generally liking a certain cut-to-the-chase style. Atkinson more or less crochets or tats the story with dozens of little delicate threads meshing together. She doesn't work from the middle or side either, just picks up a corner and adds something at random. About 1/3 of the way through things begin to hang together and make sense and you immediately can't bear to put it down until another thread catches hold of one you'd thought was hanging and another conection develops. The characters (even villains) are fully developed and believable, the actions cut off and resume in such a way that you don't get bored and at no point do you think you've 'figured it all out.' It's crime okay - but the dog who is along for the ride is just as important as the crime! Hopefully you will love it too.
