I used this book a lot when I was in college. It was a great help for making stuff without much money, time or facilities in which to cook. I kept it all these years for sentimental value, but it really should go to someone who gets some great use out of it.

Simple and realistic recipes for the first-time cook
Very nicely laid out for a beginning cook. It would be a nice present to any new cook you know.
Some good recipes here, but I ended up not giving this book to my son, to help with his meals while at college. I simply can't see him buying most of the ingredients listed in this book (sherry or dry white wine, celery, peppers, lemons, canned gravies, mushrooms, etc., etc.). Way too much shopping and preparation for his simplified eating habits, now that he's in his own apartment. Perhaps more useful for the more domestically inclined student; mine will stick with his sandwiches and top ramen diet, I'm afraid.
