Manda Anne Bishop Rocks I just found here but she Rocks!  I said her work reminded me of patricia briggs stuff then I found out they are touring together and going to be in Fenton, Missouri in March and that's not too awful long from where I live so I just might go!

seriously??  that is *awesome*.  i recently finished an Anne Bishop rereading binge.  i could use an excuse to reread the Charles & Anna books before the next one comes out.  which might just lead to a Mercy binge...

I'm staying too and have already pre-paid my membership.  Already planning and plotting to fill the 500 w/l spaces.  Woo Hoo!  I'm sending out lots of friends requests to strengthen my contact to those pbs members who read the same genres I do and I'm committed to doing my share to help PBS continue to be successful.  I read paranormals and smexy books.  Feel free to friend me too!

I have no problem with the fees. I'm shocked that the site has remained free for this long!  But over the last year or two I've moved to 99% e-books.  Much as I love technology, I never expected that.  It's been months and months since I've even set foot in a bookstore - previously a weekly, if not daily, event!

This last year, I still enjoyed the forums (especially this thread) and swapped the rare book.  But I've barely been on the site for the last 6 months, so it doesn't make much sense to continue on for a fee if I don't plan to swap books.

Patricia Briggs is one of my favorites. I can't wait for Dead Heat to come out March 3rd. I've already read everything she's published.

Enjoy your reading!

Jo

I have the Second book in the Anne Bishop Others Series Now!  And I'm caught up on the Mercy Thompson series and I preordered Dead Heat and so ready for that.  I've skipped the Raven duology, Hurog, and Steal the Dragon & When Demons Walk in her Sianim series though.  I may go back and read them sometime, just not now.

I really loved the two Hurog dragon books by Patty Briggs. They now top my comfort read lists. More traditional fantasy than UF.

Emily I like fantasy as well as I like Urban Fantasy, mostly though anything I've gotten as regular fantasy ends up being a door stopper.  And I tended toward epic for a while but while I love some of the elements of them but they just are so dang long most of the time.  As a rule I generally love Terry Brooks but it takes me forever to finish one of his books.  Since you said the Hurog books are good though I'll probably pick them up soon.  I loved the Sianim ones I read.  I just haven't gotten around to reading the last two.

The Hurog books have quite a bit of mud and reality. A large dose of family dysfunction.

I second so many of the recommendations above, but I can't believe no one has mentioned Kresley Cole. Her Immortals After Dark Series is one of my all time faves. Check her out and happy reading to you.
