I read to 142 and stopped. There are too many books and not enough time. The subject as cannibalism in Medieval England. I couldn't get past the subject to find out who was the murderer and certainly didn't want to know the details.

Again Jecks challenges the reader to explore his/her own belief system via Sir Baldwin Furnshill's and Simon Putock's ivestigation. How do superstitions and fears contribute to man's inhumanity toward man allowing humanity to justify its own shortcomings and behave in deplorable ways. Love thy neighbor is far from these characters' actions. You'll be surprised by the strangler's identity;-)
