I finished reading this book in just a few hours! It was the BEST book
by Joy Fielding I have ever read and I do have others of hers that I will
read soon. This book grabbed you from the very first sentence & never lets
you go until you finish it......and I was so sad to be done reading as it
is seldom that a book this GREAT comes along and makes you feel part of the
story! You bond with the main character and feel her pain....and her fear.
If you have never read a Joy Fielding book then you HAVE to read this one....
and you will be hooked. I am not free with handing out 5 Stars unless a
book is absolutely great...........this one was & deserved more than 5 stars!
Kudos to Joy Fielding as she hit the ball out of the park with this suspenseful
novel!!!

I enjoyed this book and read it in one afternoon at the beach. It gets you thinking about everyday life and how you may not really know someone the way you think you do! The end fell somewhat flat for me, but did not taint the overall enjoyment of the book.

Joy Fielding is no stranger to the suspense genre as any fan of her books can attest. I know that when I want nail-biting suspense, a Joy Fielding book is a good choice and Still Life delivers. Our heroine, Casey Marshall has a good life. Married to the man of her dreams, a good career, good friends and financially well-off, she has what most of us can only wish for. Unfortunately, her perfect life changes in a split-second when she is run down by a hit and run driver.

This story takes a sinister turn when Casey discovers she can hear what is being said in the presence of her comatose body. She learns that the accident may not have been an accident and she has placed her trust in the wrong person who now wants her dead. Though her body is in a coma, her mind is alert trying to figure out who tried to kill her. How frightening is that? Physically helpless and unable to defend yourself, but able to hear the killer planning to finish the job, I felt sorry for Casey and just as helpless as she did.

For the most part, this story moves along building on the spine-tingling suspense. I could relate very well to what Casey was going through and could feel her frustration and anxiety. The characters in this book come through very clearly. Joy Fielding does an excellent job of describing the scene from Caseys perspective so I got a real sense of what it was like for Casey.

My only problem with this book was Caseys reminiscing about her childhood and her parents and the excessive number of nannies Casey and her sister had growing up. It didnt ruin the story for me, but I found myself getting impatient for Casey to return to the present and work on getting herself out of the coma.

Fans of suspense novels and fans of Joy Fielding will enjoy this offering. It gave me a reminder of how fragile we truly are and how brutally honest people can be when they dont know you can hear them, which can be quite disturbing.

I seldom post reviews on books here, so my doing so with this one reveals that I enjoyed it. And enjoy it I did - I was hooked less than a third of the way into it, and it became a page-turner from that point to the end.

Because the main character becomes comatose shortly into the story, it was a unique venue to follow her in the story. My favorite part is undoubtedly that the character does not regain her site until very near the end, so the reader doesn't get bogged down by visuals of people and spaces. It made me relate to each of the characters by word and deed, which made the reading more in-depth.

I gave it 4-1/2 stars instead of 5 because there were a few times when I felt the storyline didn't move fast enough. However, there is a great twist towards the end that I didn't expect, and I was engaged to see how it all finally played out.

A good read!

Fielding does a wonderful job of grabbing your attention from the start. And she keeps you enticed throughout. A page turner for sure.

Not a bad book... it was fast reading. The villain was pretty predictable, but it was still a pretty good book.

wow !!! couldn't put this book down from page 1 to the end. Imagine being in a coma, not moveing or seeing, but hearing everything around you......this book will stay in my mind for awhile. leave it to JOY Fielding for a heart rendering story.

This book just kept me coming back. It was engaging and it made me think that I would never want to be in that condition (might want to reconsider the living will thing LOL!). I couldn't wait to get back to it each night and almost the whole way through I was thinking, "I am going to rate this book 5 stars" and I was so excited. Then I got to the ending which I thought fell flat, was rushed and didn't give the reader that adrenline rushing shock ending I was expecting. I gave the book 4 stars.

I thought it was one of the BEST books that I have read in a long time! Great storyline.....the type of book you find real hard to put down....without sneaking just a few more pages in before closing it for the day! I actually took this book with me everywhere until I finished it which did not take long since the story moves right along and holds you captive till the very end! I give it 5 stars.....one of my favorite books by Joy Fielding!!!

This was ok. Kind of a disappointment coming from Joy Fielding as I usually love her books. Not bad, but not great either.

Great read. Fast paced and enjoyable although a bit predictable. Guess I watch too many crime shows to be surprised much :)

I enjoyed this book very much. Good and fast read. Makes you think about people who are in comas what they can and cannot process.
