Probably one of the greatest books I have ever read. There are not many books that I can stomach reading twice, but I have read this book numerous times and I get something new out of it each time. If you are looking for a new view point on life, read this.

If you're not familiar with Tom Robbins' work, this is an excellent jumping on point. It's all about passion, the nature of art, what's really contained in the Vatican vaults, and life on the back of a pack of Camel Cigarettes. You'll be hooked after the first 50 pages or you'll run away screaming. Either way you will definitely be entertained.

Tom Robbins has about the most unique take on life I have ever encountered. As with all his stories this book is highly immaginative!

I first read this book when I was 15, and loved it immediately. I now read it again about every other year, and I discover something else to love about it every time. It's definitely my favorite book. It is simply a fantastic love story, if also a little quirky. But aren't the best love stories full of humor, too? The list in the book of "how to make love stay" is one of my favorite things ever. This is definitely not a typical love story, but if you are a romantic and like things a little left of center, definitely check it out.

Robbins, a local native, is at his best here. I am shocked their is no cover available. This is one of my favorite love stories, twisted and bizarre. Read if you are into pyramids, camel cigarettes, and natural contraceptives

One of my absolute favorite books of all time! Tom Robbins is a creative genius who draws you into a story and doesn't let you go. Who knew you could find the meaning of life on a pack of Camel Cigarettes?!! I can't recommend this book enough - be prepared to laugh out loud.

Someone slipped me this book in high school, when I was going through my first real "heartbreak". Robbins snapped me out of my grieving real quick. Hilarious!!! And I quote: "Who knows how to make love stay?" An excellent read!

Not my absolute favorite Tom Robbins (that would be Jitterbug Perfume), but still a great, typical Tom Robbins read.

'Still Life' is written so well and is so symbolic that it tends to confuse the less analytical reader. This is a book for those who need a good puzzle in a plot.

This is great short attention span reading. It is a great book to take on the bus or to any place you want to read but may have a lot of interruptions. It is a fun read.

A so-so Tom Robbins book. Worth reading, but not quite up to his past work.

This book was given to me as a gift by my friend Gwen who was COMPLETELY in love with it. She just adores this author with no end in sight. I never got around to reading it, but I feel pretty confident about recommending it. Gwen knows her stuff!

"Tom Robbins is a fabulous storyteller. Still Life with Woodpecker is an extravagant collision of art and nature, as American as all get-out, funny and sexy. " The Boston Globe
