One of my very favorite Hoag novels. Fast paced thriller that keeps you guessing, and characters that you can believe in and root for. The heroine is worthy of cheering for.

Elizabeth Stuart plans to make a new life for herself and her son Trace after a painful divorce. What she doesn't count on is discovering a murder and coming up against an ex football player sheriff. Good Hoag read, suspenseful, if not a bit obvious and good, tame romance. Recommended.

Slower than Hoag's thrillers usually are, this one drags through the setup when a woman who has recently moved to a small Minnesota town finds a body at a construction site and finds herself the prime suspect in the murder.

A classic Tami Hoag book. It was an Alternate Selection of the Literary Guild and a book in the Double Day Book Club.

I picked this book up on a lark - wanted something to read while I waited 2 hours in line during March Madness. Just wanted something to occupy the time, but ended up I read the entire book.
I would consider it a soft blend of romance, murder mystery. I judge murder mysteries by whether I figure out the 'who done it' before the last chapter and I changed my mind several times through this book.
The author must have some experience in relocating to a small established community and is familiar with Amish traditions. You're still considered the 'new kid' after living there for 20 years!
Will most likely try another one of her books.

Still Waters is primarily a romance with elements of suspense and a mystery at the heart of it. It is, in my opinion, a terrific book. I have recommended it to friends who read romance, mysteries and horror -- all have liked it without exception.

Elizabeth was a divorcee with a child in high school. She was a well known figure in the US. She bought a newspaper and was trying to run it with the help of her best friend.
Everyone is town is against her. All of a sudden here is a well known man of the town dead. Wait until you see what happens next!

I really enjoyed this book and didn't put it down until I finished it.

When Elizabeth Stuart searched for a quiet, peaceful home for herself and her son, Still Creek seemed perfect. Nestled in the heart of lush Amish farmlands, this small, idyllic Minnesota town would allow her to put a shattering divorce behind her. But the locals were noticeably cool to the newcomer--who was rumored to be a gold-digger--especially when she started stirring up controversy with her newspaper. And now when a murdered body literally falls at her feet, she has a slight credibility problem...particularly with the arrogant sheriff whose blue eyes seem to know her darkest secrets.
An ex-pro athlete who had returned to Still Creek a hero, Sheriff Dane Jantzen doesn't have much use for the media --especially not in the form of this glamorous, gutsy outsider who spells trouble with every word she prints. So when she becomes his suspect in a vicious crime, the last thing Dane expects is the jolt of attraction at their every encounter.

Elizabeth would soon challenge Dane's every assumption, including the one that he's better off without love. But as they risk everything to uncover the truth, the current of evil that contaminates Still Creek threatens to pull them both under...

After moving with her teenage son to a small town in Minnesota, Elizabeth Stuart is shocked when she discovers a man murdered at a local construction site. Still Creek, nestled in the heart of Amish farmlands, hasn't seen a murder in years. The small-town locals look at Elizabeth and her son with suspicion. Sheriff Dane Jantzen must find who committed the murder, and save Elizabeth from becoming the next victim.

Great romantic suspense with surprise ending! I never guessed whodunit. My rating: 5 Stars.

Moving to a small town and buying a newspaper seemed the answer for newly divorced Elizabeth Stuart and her troubled son.

Finding a murdered man was not in her plans, nor was the way the townsfolk treated her, as a suspicious person.

I really enjoyed this book. I didn't figure it out until the end. I liked the fact that there was a murder to be solved, but there were other storylines as well, it really added to it. I think I will look up some other books from this author.
