Great book for a beginning knitter. There are a variety of cute patterns. More importantly though, there is a lot of general how-to information. I've been knitting for a few years, and Stitch 'N Bitch is my standard reference tool when I need to learn a new technique or have a knitting emergency of some sort.

I learned how to knit just by reading this book. The author gives step by step instructions, plus gives helpful pictures with each step. A great book for any beginner or anyone re-teaching themselves.

I really enjoyed using this book. Stoller does a wonderful job of explaining step by step how to cast on and create the different stitches in the knitting process. As a person learns a new stitch, at the end of the chapter, she has a pattern for an item, such as a scarf, that has the person practice the technique. At the end of the book are a lot of stylish pattens that even a beginner can make. I really like this book!
